Last Saturday morning the safe of the Okanogan Valley Bank refused to give up the gold and Cashier Harry J. Kerr was somewhat embarrassed throughout the banking hours of the day by the demands of the bank's patrons for money. His embarrassment, however, had no effect on the misguided inner workings of the strong box for they continued to hold the big steel door fast.
All day Sunday Mr. Kerr and a crew of men worked with the obstinate safe but could not open the door and it was not until Wednesday afternoon that the lucky stroke was landed which again turned loose the town's store of coin of the realm.
