Centennial committee, March 14, 2007

Members of the Okanogan Centennial Planning Committee are working on getting a special postage cancellation approved.
Committee member Louie Wood reported March 14 that he's been in touch with post officials. The centennial logo must be accompanied by the words "Okanogan Station" and the date.
Rusty Bonser proposed a dance for Friday night of Okanogan Days. The June 1 dance could feature Bud Gardner and the Vegetables and a top 40 band from western Washington. Cost would be about $900-$1,000.
The committee authorized $1,000 for the dance.
     In other business:
     - Doug Woodrow is working on a time capsule for the centennial.
     - Okanogan-Omak Rotary Club recently donated $1,005 toward the celebration.
     - Committee members voted to encourage the mayor and city council to commission a statue of early day photographer Frank S. Matsura as public art.
     - The committee voted to recommend to the Okanogan Chamber of Commerce that Jack and Jo Hamilton be named grand marshals for the Okanogan Days parade.
