According to the Okanogan Independent, folks in Okanogan could munch big, red apples - these probably are winesaps - and let folks elsewhere worry about the plague and smallpox

     When we think of the bubonic plague excitement at Frisco and Seattle, the smallpox scare at Wenatchee, the bank failures in the East, etc., it would seem that Okanogan is a good place to dwell in - none of those things disturb us out here. We can munch our big red apples in perfect contentment.
