Primary Job duties: Rotate in different bench areas of the laboratory as assigned - Rotations include coverage on evening and weekends as required. Perform on call duties as assigned. Maintain quality control practices for all laboratory procedures. Perform venipunctures and capillary stick as required. Assist in the preparation of new procedures and reagent preparation. Assist with specimen computer entry and processing - is familiar with all computerized functions that are necessary to generate test results. Orient new staff members and assist in the training of MLT students.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology. ASCP certified. Must be proficient in the following: Extractions on neonates, pediatric and geriatric patients and therapeutic phlebotomy; handling and trouble shooting quality control, calibration, mechanical and sample error issues with machines used in laboratory; evaluating test results through pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical methods; developing and modifying procedures on new available methods to be used in the laboratory and/or new kits/reagents and new methods are needed in the laboratory; establishing and monitoring programs to ensure the accuracy of tests. Must be able to work variable hours to include evenings and/or weekends and perform on call duties as assigned.
