March 4, 2018 - Screening of the film, United by Water, directed by Derrick LaMere of War Pony Pictures, produced by Upper Columbia United Tribes and narrated by Sherman Alexie. This event is offered free to the public, brought to you by Methow Valley Interpretive Center and supported by a grant from Humanities Washington.
This event will be held at Methow Valley Community Center, 201 WA-20, Twisp, WA.
Doors will open at 5:30 and the film will begin at 6:00. Director Derrick LaMere, a member of the Colville tribe will be present and participate in a talk-back with guests following the film.
The film revolves around the revival of a traditional canoe journey on the Columbia River that ended when the Grand Coulee Dam was built. The film documents the building of traditional canoes and the journey of members of the Upper Columbia tribes to their ancestral fishing grounds in Kettle Falls and includes archival footage from The Ceremony of Tears in 1940.
