Washington's delegation urges constituents to stay in touch by e-mail, fax or telephone. Regular mail correspondence is discouraged because security measures, put in place after the 2001 anthrax scare, often delay delivery of mail for several weeks.
     Constituents should include their full names and street addresses in their messages to ensure they will receive a response.

     McMorris was appointed to the state House of Representatives in January 1994, and was re-elected until running for and being elected to Congress in 2004. She was re-elected in 2006.
     McMorris holds a bachelor of arts degree in pre-law from Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, Fla. In May 2002 she graduated from the executive MBA program at the University of Washington.
     McMorris married Brian Rodgers, a retired navy pilot from Spokane, on Aug. 5, 2006. She previously lived and worked on a family owned fruit orchard in Stevens County.
