Guns, sport

Okanogan Wildlife Council. Meets 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the council's gun club, 54A Spring Coulee Road, Okanogan. Operates trap, rifle and pistol ranges for members. Horses, riding

Boots and Saddles Barrel Racing Club. First race of 2007 is March 18. Barrels and poles events held twice monthly at the Salmon Creek Arena. Lead line to open divisions. Points given for year-end awards. Family oriented and beginners welcome. Information: Karen Zittel, 826-1143.

Methow Valley chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington. Meets 7 p.m. first Thursday of month at Methow Valley Senior Center, Twisp. Works to preserve people's rights to use horses on public lands and protection of back country environment. Educates and informs equestrians and others on the impacts of horse use on the backcountry and the "leave no trace" concept. Annual trail ride the last weekend in April. Unlimited Riding of Okanogan County. A 4-H program specializing in individualized horsemanship for special people. Clubs serve individuals with a wide range of disabilities, and also able-bodied individuals interested in learning about horse care. ABATE of Washington, Okanogan Valley chapter. Meets 10 a.m. first Sunday of the month at the Okanogan Eagles. Holds fund-raisers, different runs, holds annual toy run to benefit needy children, works as advocate for motorcyclists' rights, holds safety and education courses. Rodeo
Caribou Trail Junior Rodeo Association. Coordinates competitive junior rodeos. Club members compete in junior rodeos in northeastern Washington and in the Washington State Junior Rodeo final. 206 Snowriders Snowmobile Club. Promotes safe snowmobiling and works with the Forest Service to keep areas open for winter recreation; family oriented.
