COLFAX COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – Tonasket High School’s Collin Aitcheson finished sixth and John Rawley eighth at the 42nd Tri-State wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Tigers tied for 39th in the team scoring with 30 points at the longest continually running invitational tournament in the Northwest. Tri-State features the top varsity wrestlers from Idaho, Washington, Montana and Oregon. Liberty Bell tied for 49th with 22 points.
Kuna, located 15 miles southwest of Boise, Idaho, won the team title with 193 points.
Aitcheson, a senior with a 10-3 record at 120 pounds, opened with a bye, took a major decision (11-2) and a pin (2:42) before falling to eventual champ Casey Cobb (12-0) of Kuna.
Aitcheson took decisions of 4-2 and 5-0 in the consolation bracket before falling to Seth Lowen of Post Falls, Idaho, 7-0.
In the match for fifth and sixth, Alius Delarosa of Post Falls, Idaho, won by pin (2:48).
Rawley, a senior with a 9-4 record at 195 pounds, took a rough route to his placing.
Rawley lost his opening match by pin (4:51), which put him immediately into the consolation bracket.
The Tiger responded with a pin in 26 seconds and decisions of 4-2 and 4-1 before being pinned. In the match for fifth and sixth, Kevin McLean of Mead won by fall (1:41).

OROVILLE – Taylor Robinson, Ruben Renfro, Jordan Smith, Eddie Ocampo and Lukas Mieirs each picked up pins in matches against Brewster and Pateros on Friday.
Ocampo and Robinson finished the night still undefeated.
Oroville goes to Lake Roosevelt’s Powerhouse Tournament on Saturday before returning home for its annual NOHI Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 4.
BREWSTER – Cashmere won three league matches against Brewster and dominated a non-league match against Pateros on Thursday.
Austin Steele took a technical fall, 17-2, from Elvis Montiel at 120; Ethan Visser of Cashmere took a 10-1 decision over Omar Castro at 138; and Tyler Carrillo pinned Adrian Urias in 1:15 of the first period at 220.
There was a potentially dangerous hold during the Cerrilo/Urias match, with the Brewster wrestler hobbling off the mat at the finish.
Bryant Bubel of Cashmere and Carlos Cruz of Pateros fought to a draw in regulation at 145.
Bubel used an escape and takedown in the final seconds to tie Cruz, 6-6, in regulation.
Bubel then used a quick takedown for the win in overtime.
