Omak graduate pens mystery

‘Wheezer’ is available online

ASHBURN, Va. – An Omak High School graduate has written and published his first e-book, a mystery set in rural New Jersey.

Tom Moomaw, born and raised in Omak, has self-published his novel “Wheezer” through It’s available to purchase and read on Kindle.

Moomaw, 53, is the son of Elaine and Richard Moomaw of Omak. He is a 1977 graduate of Omak High School and now lives in Ashburn, Va. with his wife Joyce. He works for the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Prior to his move to Virginia, Moomaw served in the U.S. Air Force, lived for six years in Germany and has lived and worked in several mid-eastern states, Elaine Moomaw said.

“Wheezer” is about a couple named Jack and Dani Walker who moved to New Jersey with Jack’s brother, Ben, only to eventually be confronted with new, annoying neighbors. Their disagreements are disrupted by “dark forces of the woods” that arrive to wreak havoc, according to the book description.
