Okanogan knocks off Omak soccer

OKANOGAN – Okanogan celebrated senior night with a 4-1 win over Omak on Oct. 29.

“The girls played well and did a great job of moving the ball around,” Okanogan coach Dean Klepec said. “Our defense did a great job of keeping the ball on their half of the field most of the time.”

Okanogan led 3-0 at the half following goals by Cameron Moses, Megan Patrick and Emmy Engle. Janice Romero had 2 assists and Engle had an assist.

In the second half, Daniela Carroll scored Omak’s goal.

“Cameron Moses made a great save on the penalty kick, but then Omak came in after the save and kicked it in,” Klepec said.

Okanogan’s final goal was by Patrick on an assist from Engle.

The final league matches were played Saturday, Nov. 2, with Cashmere at Tonasket, Okanogan at Quincy and Brewster at Chelan.

Werner said if Chelan loses, Omak will play Brewster at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Brewster High School, 503 Seventh St. The winner plays CTL champion Cashmere at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Cashmere, 172 Rose St.

Okanogan, which has wrapped up third place in the league, plays at the Northeast 1A League’s No. 2 team at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. The winner advances with a No. 4 seed to state. The loser is out.

BREWSTER – Brewster edged Tonasket, 2-1, after a shootout in a Caribou Trail League match Oct. 29.

Jessica Vargas of Brewster scored to tie the match before the Bears won the shootout.

“We played good the first half and had few chances, but the second half we let down a bit,” Brewster coach Alex Sanchez said.

In the shootout (2-1), Veronica Arrez and Leslie Carrillo each had a goal.

BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport celebrated senior night with a 4-1 non-league victory over Entiat on Oct. 29.

Ayana Herrejon put the Fillies on the board early on an assist from Paula Soto.

Jenny Salazar added another goal before the half.

In the second half, Paula Soto scored on an assist from Herrejon and Lizeth Lopez scored the final goal on an assist from Yaretzi Martinez.

Oroville is at Bridgeport on the final day of the regular season Saturday, Nov. 9.

MANSON – Liberty Bell slipped past Manson, 1-0, in a Central Washington 2B League match Oct. 29.

Entiat is at Liberty Bell for the final match of the regular season Saturday, Nov. 9.
