Twisp pedestrian struck by vehicle

Local man suffered broken arm, broken leg, head injury

— A local man was injured Sept. 16 when he was hit by a vehicle on Twisp River Road near Marmot Bench Lane.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said Carl A. Snyder, 49, was walking his dog about 10:10 p.m.

He was in the roadway when two vehicles approached from opposite directions, with their high beams on.

One driver, Okanogan resident Michael J. Reisenburg, 43, was westbound and dimmed his lights for the oncoming vehicle.

As he did so, he spotted Snyder and the dogs in the road but was unable to stop his pickup truck in time, Rogers said.

Snyder suffered a broken arm, a broken leg and a head injury, a report from the Sheriff’s Office said.

He was taken by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster and later airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. As of Sept. 24, he was listed in satisfactory condition.

No citations have been issued, and no alcohol or drugs were involved, Rogers said.
