HYAK Motorists using Interstate 90 to cross the Cascade Mountains should expect traffic delays this week.
According to the state Department of Transportation, work crews will close one lane in each direction just east of Snoqualmie Pass through Friday.
The lane closures are from Milepost 56 at Hyak east to Milepost 61 at Price Creek.
The closures are a precursor to further traffic lane reductions for two weeks starting April 12. That two-week closure will reduce traffic flow to one lane each way.
In addition to the lane closures, the state has closed the Indian John Rest Area near Cle Elum through 7 p.m. Thursday for lighting and other upgrades.
