Omak students stage Neil Simon comedy

— The high school Drama Club will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Fools” on April 11, 12, 18 and 19.

Curtain time is 7 p.m. Admission will be charged.

The play begins as school teacher Leon Tolchinsky arrives in Kulyen-chikov, where he has been hired to educate the young Sophia Zubritsky, the daughter of local doctor Nikolai Zubritsky and his wife, Lenya.

Upon his arrival, Tolchinsky encounters a series of off-the-wall characters, including an aging vendor, the town postman, an irritated butcher and a shepherd who can’t seem to find his sheep.

Eventually he learns that all those who dwell in Kulyenchikov have been cursed with stupidity and, after falling in love with the fair Sophia, must avoid the machinations of Count Gregor Yousekevitch and break the curse.

“Fools” is directed by Douglas and Nicole Leese.

Performers include Jordan Beaver, Leon; Hunter Thomas, Sophie; Chelsee Johnson, Lenya; Reve Hill, Dr. Zubritsky; Johanna Matthynssens, Yenchna; Lacoda Miller, Slovitch; Livia Hays, Mishkin; Sisco Miller, Magistrate; Gideon Bolton, Count Gregor; Lisa Halfhill, Snetsky; Will Hughes, Dmitri; Sydney Howard, Mikayla, and Mackenzie Vance, Alyona.
