Fire races up Pogue Mountain

The fire began about 11:30 a.m. near the south end of the Okanogan Valley Golf Club and then headed west and up the mountain.

Firefighters from Omak, Okanogan and Malott stations of Fire District No. 3 were called, along with the state Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service, Fire District No. 7 (rural Riverside) and Fire District No. 9 (rural Conconully).

As of late afternoon Tuesday, crews were still on the fire.
