Bridgeport, Okanogan shine at track meet

Walts runs to No. 2 state hurdle time

— The Bridgeport boys finished third and Okanogan girls fifth at the Rieke Invitational track meet Friday.

Kip Craig won the 110 hurdles (15.51) and 300 hurdles (41.51) plus took second in the 200 (23.13) for Bridgeport.

The Bridgeport 4x400 relay was first (3:34.94) with Jefferey Monje, Hector Garcia, Craig and Eduardo Zarate.

Liberty Bell winners included Liam Daily in the 800 (2:00.72), Ben Klemmeck in the 1,600 (4:39.40) and Jaymis Hanson won the high jump (5-10).

For Oroville, Luke Kindred won the javelin (155-11) and Tanner Smith was second in the 100 (11.41).

Ethan Bensing of Tonasket won the triple jump (41-2).

Mason Guerrette of Okanogan was second in the long jump (20-1).

On the girls side, Rose Walts of Tonasket won the hurdles in 16.06 seconds, which is the second best in the state at 1A, coach Bob Thornton said.

She also won the triple jump at 34 feet, an inch short of her personal best that’s ranked No. 10 in state 1A.

Yvonne Kilgour of Omak won the shot put (36-11), which is the eighth best in state 1A.

Sierra Speiker of Oroville won the girls 3,200 (11:08.64) and was second in the 1,600 (5:27.81). She is ranked No. 1 in 2B in both runs – 5:19.98 in the 1,600 and 10:49.00 in the 3,200.

Teammate Kaitlyn Grunst won the high jump (5-0), which ties her for No. 4 in state 2B.

Okanogan’s Alexis Jones, Emmy Engle, Keanna Egbert and Cayden Diefenbach won the 4x100 relay (54.29) and the 4x400 relay (4:26.50), which is 10th best in state 1A.

Okanogan’s Mayra Huizar (93-11) finished second and teammate Emmy Engle was third (93-6) in the discus.

Karina Rincon of Brewster was second in the 800 (2:30.26).
