— A wildfire between Twisp and Winthrop claimed a house along state Highway 20 this afternoon and is threatening at least one other home.

State Highway 20 is closed at milepost 196, and officials are trying to clear traffic out of the area between Twisp and Winthrop, Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said.

“We’re doing Level 3 evacuations,” he said. “This kind of blew up on us.”

The area along state Highway 20 and Twin Lakes Road is being evacuated. The fire burned a home at milepost 198.

Traffic is being routed along the east side of the Methow River between Twisp and Winthrop.
