New fires sparked in Methow Valley

— A storm cell passing over the Methow Valley about 2:30 p.m. has rekindled fire concerns in the region.

"We got hammered over here," Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said.

According to Rogers, the storm cell brought gusty winds that knocked down power lines and toppled trees. Even Twin Lakes Road, which leads to the Carlton Complex wildfire incident command, was impacted.

Several roads are currently closed to vehicular traffic; a list was not immediately available.

The storm also brought lightning down on the area from Carlton to Winthrop. Multiple spot fires were reported, the sheriff said.

One fire ignited in the Little Bridge Creek area and was "raging," Rogers said.

With power lines and trees down throughout the area, Rogers is advising residents to stay home. Fire and utility crews are trying to clear roads now.
