Body recovered from Okanogan River

— The body of a local man was recovered from the Okanogan River on Friday evening.

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 7 p.m. for a body discovered in the river along the 700 block of North Second Avenue in Okanogan.

Malcolm C. Tervo, 64, had been taken to Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak on Nov. 15, 2013. Sheriff Frank Rogers said it is unclear whether he was admitted, but he left on his own.

His family reported him missing to the Sheriff’s Office three days later, on Nov. 18.

Officials identified Tervo’s body by the hospital identification bracelet on his wrist, showing his name and date of birth.
