Electricity down from Malott to the Methow

— The area from just south of Okanogan to Malott and across the mountains to the Methow Valley is without electricity this afternoon.

The power went off around 1 p.m.

Okanogan County Public Utility District Manager John Grubich said crews are in Pleasant Valley, ready to make repairs to the Loup Loup transmission line, but the state Department of Natural resources is “not allowing us access” to the line.

The agency responded, with Malott, Okanogan and Omak fire departments, to report of a one- to two-acre fire in Pleasant Valley around 12:15 p.m.

Repairs will be made as soon as possible, Grubich said.

The Methow Valley was without power more than a week in July after the Carlton Complex fire damaged the Loup Loup line.
