OMAK The Economic Alliance board of directors will meet via telephone today to consider selecting a consultant to promote Okanogan County in the wake of the Carlton Complex wildfires.
Six submissions were reviewed by the board's selection committee, which will present its ranking to the board at 3 p.m. today.
The names of most firms and agencies submitting qualifications have yet to be released.
But the committee has tentatively selected BrandQuery of Mount Vernon listed as its top-ranked consultant. BrandQuery is the same firm that produced advertising campaigns in the wake of the Skagit River Bridge collapse and the Oso mudslide.
Once a consultant is officially selected, the contracted agency is required to put together a print, radio and television advertising campaign for Okanogan County, with complete fall and summer advertising roll out before Sept. 9. The hired consultant will have until Feb. 28 to roll out a complete advertising package for spring and summer of next year.
The public can meet the successful consultant and its staff at 1 p.m. tomorrow during a public session at Koala Street Grill and Neighborhood Bar, 914 Koala Ave.
Funding for the consultant and advertising was authorized Aug. 15 by Gov. Jay Inslee as part of the state's economic recovery aid package.
The advertising is in addition to funds expended annually by the Okanogan County Tourism Council, which promotes the area as "Open for Adventure."
