Bridgeport High School cancels classes due to vandalism

— Bridgeport High School have been canceled today and tomorrow due to a break-in and "significant" vandalism.

Elementary and middle school classes are operating on their normal schedules.

Vandals broke in early Monday morning, smashing interior windows, prying open doorways and ripping out security cameras. Lockers and desks were entered, and items taken, Superintendent Scott Sattler said.

“At this point, I do not have a damage estimate," he said. "However, I can say it is significant."

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators are on-scene.

Sattler said he’s hopeful repairs can be made so school can open Wednesday.

A similar break-in happened March 30, 2012, at Omak High School. In that break-in, two vandals were caught on security video, but they were never identified. No arrests have been made.
