KELLER The Keller Ferry will be out of service this weekend as crews make repairs to the vessel’s steering system.
Officials from the state Department of Transportations said the ferry will be demobilized at 6 a.m. Saturday. Services are anticipated to resume at 6 a.m. Monday.
“Crews from Rolls Royce will make permanent repairs to the vessel’s steering system,” officials said. “The rudder actuator has failed on several occasions, requiring temporary repairs.”
Rolls Royce will complete the repairs under a warranty. A team from the Washington State Ferries Vessel Engineering Division will monitor the work.
Final approval of the repairs must be issued by the U.S. Coast Guard before the ferry can return to service.
