Morris named state 2B Player of the Year

— Tyler “TJ” Morris of Okanogan was named today as the Associated Press’s 2B football Player of the Year.

Morris, a running back and senior, helped lead the Bulldogs to the state championship.

Okanogan, Pateros and Republic placed football players on 2014 Associated Press Washington All-State football teams.

Jim Townsend and Gage Cotner, both seniors, were named to first teams on offense and defense.

Townsend was named as a receiver (he was a tight end) and linebacker.

Cotner was named on both lines.

Brad Nearents, a senior, was named to the first team on the offensive line.

Jalen Moses, a junior, was named to the first team as a defensive back.

On state second teams were:

Timbo Taylor, a junior at Brewster, was named at quarterback, Hayden Bayha, senior, on the defensive line, and Mitch Boesel, a junior, as a defensive back.

Lucas Rittel, a senior at Republic, was named to the offensive and defensive lines.

Carlos Ceniceros, a senior at Pateros, was named to the state 1B first team on offense as a receiver.

Ceniceros broke several 1B state and school receiving records this year.

Austin Urlacher, a senior running back at Chiawana, was named Player of the Year for all classifications.

In 1A, Dennis Merritt, a senior at Cascade, was named to the state 1A second team as a running back.
