Okanogan holds Quincy to 40

Chelan boys outlast Omak to grab 44-29 win

— The Okanogan High School boys basketball raced to an early lead and cruised to a 66-40 victory over Quincy on Saturday.

“We got off to a good start with 26 points in the first quarter (26-11),” Okanogan coach Mike Carlquist said.

The Bulldogs led 42-19 at the half.

“It was kind of cruise control from there,” Carlquist said. “We came out the first 16 minutes and played very, very well. Then the game was pretty much over.”

Justin Rivas scored 24 points to lead Okanogan. Jim Townsend chipped in 15 points.

“Quincy’s best player, Connor Trevino, did not play that much,” Carlquist said. “Quincy is going to beat someone, someone good. They are very well coached.

“There are going to be a lot of close games down the stretch, a lot. Every boys team can play a little bit. If you don’t play, you can get beat.”
