Brewster dismantles young Reardan

Omak takes out Quincy; Cashmere edges Okanogan; Republic wins 70-7

Brewster took charge early en route to a 69-22 non-league win over Reardan on Saturday.

“Good, all-around game,” Brewster coach Roger Boesel said. “Reardan is down this year after graduating a strong class last year.”

Chandler Smith finished with 22 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds.

Also scoring for Brewster were Monica Landdeck with 20 points, Brette Boesel with 10 points and 7 assists, Margie Brammer with 9 points and 5 steals, and Markie Miller with 6 points and 18 rebounds.

Brewster (12-0 overall, 6-0 league) was to play at Cashmere (12-0, 6-0) for the league lead Tuesday.

Quincy (2-9, 0-6) is at Brewster on Saturday.

QUINCY – Omak pounded Quincy, 51-25, in a Caribou Trail League game Saturday.

“We were able to force some turnovers and gradually pulled ahead,” Omak coach Rolland Hansen said.

Shawnee Covington (26 points) and Kaelyn Marchand (8 points) were hot in the first half, Hansen said of the Pioneers pulling in front 24-15. Kara Keaton scored 8 points.

Baelie Meese (4 points) pulled down 13 rebounds.

“It was great to see the girls execute well and play good basketball for all four quarters,” Hansen said.

Omak (7-4 overall, 2-3 league) is at Cashmere (12-0, 6-0) on Saturday.

OKANOGAN – Cashmere led by as much as 28 points in the third quarter before hanging on for a 54-48 win over Okanogan in a Caribou Trail league game Saturday.

“You can’t dig a hole and expect to come back against good teams,” Okanogan coach Bryan Boesel said. “The girls could have thrown in the towel, but fought hard all the way to the end.”

Jill Townsend led Okanogan with 24 points against Cashmere, which is tied with Brewster at 6-0 for the league lead.

Cascade (9-3 overall, 3-3 league) is at Okanogan (9-2, 3-2) on Friday.

WILBUR – Wilbur-Creston snapped a two-game Curlew win streak with a 74-25 win over the Cougars on Saturday.

The Wildcats (12-0) jumped out to a 23-8 first quarter lead and were never threatened.

Lindsey Gibson scored 11 points and sister Haleigh added 10 points for Curlew.

Northport (0-13 overall, 0-7 league) is at Curlew (5-6, 3-3) on Friday before the Cougars go to Selkirk (7-5, 4-2) on Saturday.

WINTHROP – Liberty Bell got past Riverside Christian, 43-33, on Saturday.

The Mountain Lions led 25-13 at the half and hung on for the victory.

NORTHPORT – Republic never allowed more than 3 points in any quarter in destroying Northport, 70-7, in a league game Saturday.

Sierra McQuay scored 15 points and Haley McRae had 10 for Republic, which spread the scoring amongst 11 players.

Inchelium (4-4 overall, 3-3 league) is at Republic (11-1, 5-0) on Friday and Cusick (7-3, 4-2) visits Saturday.

INCHELIUM – The Hornets wilted in the second half while falling 44-22 to Selkirk in a Northeast 1B northern division game Saturday.

Mariah Zacherle and TaSheena Kohler each scored 9 points for Inchelium, which trailed 19-14 at the half.

Inchelium (4-4 overall, 3-3 league) is at Republic (11-1, 5-0) on Friday.

OROVILLE – No score was received for Kittitas at Oroville on Saturday.

Oroville (4-4) is at Bridgeport (1-5) on Thursday before returning home for Riverside Christian (1-7) on Saturday.

TONASKET – Cascade used a 20-7 second quarter run to help put away Tonasket, 53-38, in a Caribou Trail League game Friday.

Kylie Dellinger scored 9 points and Baylie Tyus added 7 points.

Tonasket (2-9 overall, 0-6) is at Chelan (6-4, 3-3) on Friday.

REPUBLIC – The Tigers started slow, but once rolling, easily plastered Chewelah, 70-35, in a non-league game Friday.

Republic led 10-8 after the first quarter before winning the next two quarters, 48-16.

Freshman Shania Graham scored 27 points to go with 9 rebounds, 8 steals and 5 assists for the Tigers.

Freshman Makenna Weltz finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 steals and sophomore Savannah Bowe had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

CURLEW – Curlew constantly stole the ball to set up shots both inside and outside in dismantling Columbia, 53-27, in a northern division matchup Friday.

Kayleona Fanning (14 points) worked the inside off feeds from Lindsey Gibson (18 points) and Haleigh Gibson (14 points) for the Cougars.

The 5-2 Haleigh Gibson finished with 16 rebounds for Curlew, which led 30-13 at the half.

The Wildcats (12-0) sprinted to a 27-7 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Samantha Martinez and Jennifer Salazar each scored 8 points for Bridgeport.

Oroville (4-4) is at Bridgeport (1-5) on Thursday.

Pateros led 22-12 at the half before slowly pulling away in the second half.

Reinnee Rockett led the Warriors with 10 points.

CUSICK – Inchelium trailed by 6 points at the half before the wheels came off the offense against Cusick on Friday.

The Panthers struck in the second half with a 40-13 run en route to a 63-30 victory.

TaSheena Kohler scored 11 points for Inchelium.
