Principal nominated for award

— Omak High School Assistant Principal Joanne Warren has been named as one of the top administrators among the Caribou Trail League schools and has been nominated for a statewide award.

Warren was named Assistant Principal of the Year by the Caribou Trail League Principals Alliance group.

She is also the principal at Highlands High School, which was previously known as Omak Alternative High School, before being rebranded in the fall.

“We are very proud of her work to move the high school forward in leadership and education,” Omak High School Principal Dave Kirk said.

Kirk said principals from the area 1A and 2B school meet quarterly “to discuss the pulse of education and to work collaboratively to solve local concerns.”

As a winner of the league award, Warren will now move on to compete for the Washington State Assistant Principal of the Year Award.
