GRAND COULEE The first 2014 baby born at Coulee Medical Center is Makenzie May Picard.
She was born Jan. 4 to Meagan Bellamy and Andre Picard of Coulee Dam. Hospital officials announced the birth Jan. 14, saying the parents were delayed in signing the authorization for release of the information.
At birth, the baby weighed five pounds, six ounces and was 19 inches long.
Her siblings are Darrel Picard and Ashley Picard. Maternal grandparents are Cynthia Bellamy and Kelly Bellamy, and paternal grandparents are Elsie Picard and Wayne Picard.
The family was presented a variety of gifts provided by the hospital guild and businesses in the Grand Coulee area. Gifts ranged from baby blankets and diapers to roadside emergency kits.
Makenzie May was the fourth baby born to Okanogan County parents this year.
Isaac James Hamernik was born New Year’s Day at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket, Nathanial Marcus Hamilton Jr. arrived Jan. 2 at Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak, and Anahy Guadalupe Ramirez Carrillo was born Jan. 3 at Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster.
Ferry County Memorial Hospital in Republic does not have an obstetrics program.
