Bears gallop past Pioneer girls, 57-26

Okanogan clobbers Tonasket, 70-11

— Brewster girls started slow, but eventually proved unstoppable Tuesday in a 57-26 win over Omak.

“We came out playing hard and held a lead through most of the first quarter,” Omak coach Rolland Hansen said. “Despite a strong defensive effort, we were unable to finish shots and gradually fell further behind throughout the game.”

Brewster, led by the 23 points of Chandler Smith, was up 15-9 after the first quarter and 28-11 at the half.

Omak sophomore Lexi Pfitzer stepped into the starting lineup at guard.

“She played well tonight, scoring 6 points and adding 7 defensive rebounds,” Hansen said of Pfitzer.

Monica Landdeck scored 14 points and Brette Boesel added 12 for the Bears.

Omak’s Shawnee Covington scored 8 points.

Okanogan (13-2 overall, 7-2 league) is at Omak (7-8, 2-7) and Brewster (14-1, 8-1) is at Tonasket (3-12, 0-9) on Tuesday.

TONASKET – The Okanogan girls devoured Tonasket, 70-11, in a league game Tuesday.

The Bulldogs defense built a 24-2 first quarter lead and did not give up a point in the fourth.

Jill Townsend scored 20 points, Jordyn Boesel 13 and Janice Romero 11 for Okanogan.

Kylie Dellinger scored 5 points for Tonasket.

Okanogan (13-2 overall, 7-2 league) is at Omak (7-8, 2-7) and Brewster (14-1, 8-1) is at Tonasket (3-12, 0-9) on Tuesday.

PATEROS – The No. 5 state-ranked Pateros girls basketball team did not play Tuesday, but will play Tuesday.

The Billygoats (9-1 overall, 1-0 league) played at Soap Lake (4-8, 3-3) on Saturday in a matchup of north and south teams. Results were not available by press time.

No. 3 state-ranked Entiat (13-0) plays at Pateros on Tuesday in a north division rivalry game and state ranking bragging rights.

LIBERTY BELL – Lake Roosevelt beat Liberty Bell, 48-25, on Tuesday.

The Raiders won the junior varsity game, 34-18.

Liberty Bell (2-10 overall, 1-3 league) is at Oroville (6-5, 2-0) and Lake Roosevelt (3-6, 2-0) is at Bridgeport (2-6, 1-2) on Tuesday.

Scoring was not received.

MOSES LAKE – Bridgeport knocked off Columbia Basin Secondary School, 54-29, on Tuesday.
