OKANOGAN Campfire restrictions have been expanded by the state Department of Natural Resources.
As of midnight Friday, all campfires in Rock Creek Campground, Rock Creek Shelter and Rock Lake Campground are prohibited. The sites are west of town.
The agency previously announced a ban on campfires at Leader Lake Campground west of town.
A statewide burn ban is in effect on all Natural Resources-protected lands, effective through September 30, 2014. The ban includes all forestlands in Washington except for federal lands.
A campfire ban is in effect for U.S. Forest Service lands and Okanogan County also has imposed a burn ban.
