Forest Service closes lands north of Lake Chelan

— The U.S. Forest Service has closed all of its lands accessible from the north shore of Lake Chelan as a precaution because of increased fire activity in the Gold Creek, Foggy Dew and Black Canyon areas.

Level 3 evacuation alerts have been issued for Washington Creek and Antoine Creek between Pateros and Chelan. A Level 2 alert is in place for Union Valley.

The closure affects Grade Creek Road No. 8200 beginning at the Sno-park, Antoine Creek No. 8140 (beginning at the cattle guard), all Echo Ridge Summer trails, the South Navarre Campground, Summer Blossom Trailhead and Safety Harbor Trailhead.

Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness trails remain open.

A red flag warning is in effect through Friday night for increasing winds and low relative humidity.
