OMAK With downtown Omak seemingly under endless construction the last couple months, business operators are beginning to worry about their finances.
Some have taken steps to encourage customers to stop, others haven’t. Some are optimistic about the impact the new streetscape will have. Others, not so much.
Regardless of how you feel about the streetscape and related construction issues, we, as a community, need our downtown to be vibrant and full of successful businesses. If the construction is completed on time before the start of the Omak Stampede celebration, our business community is resilient enough to survive. But if there are delays, it’ll take years to bring customers back downtown.
In the meantime, as a community, we can help our local businesses, friends and neighbors by finding a reason to visit a downtown shop and purchasing something. The money we spend downtown not only helps keep the businesses afloat, it also employs our friends and neighbors, either directly or indirectly.
And as our downtown emerges with a fresh, new look after the streetscape, we suspect you’ll find even more reasons to spend time in the downtown Omak business district.
Downtown merchants need you now. You will need those businesses later.
