Olson named

PULLMAN — Okanogan resident Brent Olson has received Washington State University’s civil engineering department’s “outstanding teaching assistant” award.

Olson is a graduate student in civil engineering and taught two semesters of the “mechanics of materials” course. He is specializing in structural engineering, and plans to go into industry.

The university said he enjoyed mentoring students, something he hopes to translate into good management skills in his career.

He is a 2008 graduate of Okanogan High School.



Student named

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A Winthrop student has been named to the scholastic honor roll at Oregon State University for the winter term.

Marian G. Tannehill, a sophomore, earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Tannehill is majoring in human development and family science.
