County to meet with Forest Service

OKANOGAN – Okanogan County commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, but Tuesday’s meeting has been canceled due to lack of a quorum.

Monday’s meetings kick off with a discussion on landfill protocol with Dick Howe.

A possible executive session is tentatively slated for 11 a.m. via conference call.

Planning Director Perry Huston will provide an update for commissioners at 11 a.m., followed by a U.S. Forest Service discussion with Supervisor Michael Balboni, and a discussion of service projects on county trails with Dennis O’Connor of the Okanogan School District.

Under consent agenda items, commissioners will consider a call for bids for landfill roll-off and recycle bins; a memorandum of understanding with Veterans Affairs regarding claims quality assurance; a bid award for herbicide services; an easement agreement for the Loup Loup Creek bridge replacement; and a grant agreement for an energy efficiency project with the state Department of Commerce.

Commissioners Jim DeTro and Ray Campbell plan to attend a conference in Anchorage, Alaska, from Tuesday to Friday.

Meetings take place in the Grainger Administration Building, 123 N. Fifth Ave.

Pateros Council may select sister city rep

PATEROS – The City Council will consider several resolutions Monday night.

The meeting will include discussion on a boating facilities program and continuing the city’s agreement with the North Central Washington Narcotics Task Force.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 113 Lakeshore Drive.

Other resolutions include a motion to join the Okanogan County Council of Government, a grant to fund a feasibility and planning study for a proposed development and an excessive force policy.

The council also plans to discuss appointing a representative to its sister city, Pateros, Philippines; as well as a funding request from the Chamber of Commerce.

Okanogan considers zoning ordinance

OKANOGAN – The City Council will consider an ordinance expanding the areas churches and schools will be allowed, with some conditions, when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

During the meeting at City Hall, 130 N. Third Ave., the council also will hear a presentation from Chris Fisher of the Colville Confederated Tribes’ fisheries program and a proposed zen garden project at Arboretum Park.

Winthrop Council will host pot hearing

WINTHROP – The Town Council will hear public testimony in a hearing Wednesday night regarding potential zoning policy for recreational marijuana retailers.

The hearing will take place during the council’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn, 51 state Highway 20.

A complete meeting agenda was not available by press time.

OKANOGAN — The Okanogan County Board of Adjustment meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Grainger Administration Building, 123 N. Fifth Ave.

Marketing Board to meet Wednesday

OKANOGAN — The Marketing Board will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Grainger Administration Building, 123 N. Fifth Ave.

Hearings slated for Thursday morning

OKANOGAN — The hearings examiner will preside over hearings at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Grainger Administration Building, 123 N. Fifth Ave.
