COULEE DAM More than 300 people turned out this morning for the grand opening ceremony of the new $31 million Lake Roosevelt school complex.
The new complex merges the elementary and middle schools in Grand Coulee with Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam.
"We moved three buildings into one," Grand Coulee Dam School District Superintendent Dennis Carlson said.
In addition to Carlson, other dignitaries present during the event included School Board Chairwoman Joette Barry, the Rev. Steve Archer, Sen. Linda Evans-Parlette, Rep. Cary Condotta, several Colville Business Council members, Okanogan County Commissioners Jim DeTro and Sheilah Kennedy, Douglas County Commissioners Dale Snyder and Steve Jenkins, Grant County Commissioner Carolann Schwartz and others.
Evans-Parlette gave the keynote speech and Barry cut the ribbon officially opening the school and campus.
Classes begin at the school Monday.
