MANSFIELD Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal has issued evacuation notices for several areas along the Columbia River and on the Waterville Plateau.
"As of this time, Level 3 evacuations are in effect for Chelan Springs, McNeil Canyon, Central Ferry and Dezellem Hill Road," he said at 9 p.m. "Level 2 Evacuation notices are in effect for the city of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Bar."
Level 3 means fire is imminent; Level 2 means fire is in the area and residents should be prepared to evacuated.
The sheriff has also issued a Level I notice for residents of Mansfield. A Level 1 fire means be cognizant a fire is burning and could prompt higher evacuation levels.
"We do not have any confirmed information regarding damage or injury," Gjesdal said.
According to the sheriff, the fire was initially in Chelan County, but jumped the Columbia River and was moving rapidly toward the northeast.
Douglas County officials were assisting Chelan County with evacuations when the fire jumped the river about 4 p.m. just north of Beebe Bridge.
