Crews working to restore power to Chelan area

— Power remains out for several Chelan County Public Utility District customers after fire damaged distribution and transmission poles, lines and other equipment.

Areas remaining without power include Antoine Creek, Chelan Airport area, Chelan Falls, south Chelan and McNeil Canyon.

About 100 power poles have to be replaced, officials said, noting crews from Okanogan and Douglas counties are assisting.

The utility is advising residents still without power to turn off and unplug electronics and appliances, and leave an outside light on.

Officials said crews will be working until at least 11 tonight and will return by 6 a.m. tomorrow to continue their efforts to restore power.

"The Antoine and Apple Acres areas may take up to a week for restoration, depending on fire activity," utility spokeswoman Suzanne Hartman said.
