— The Oroville girls advanced to the state tournament today after defeating the Kittitas Coyotes, 42-37, in a must-win game.

Kittitas’ Rachel Baker led all scorers with 19 points. Mikayla Scott led Oroville with 17 points.

Oroville led 12-3 at the end of the first quarter, but let Kittitas back into the game in the second with the temporary loss of sophomore standout Hannah Hilderbrand.

At halftime, Oroville led 19-17.

Coach Mike Bourne said Hilderbrand went to the lockerroom sick, but noted she returned in the third quarter to restart her team's defense.

With the win, he Hornets will face White Swan in the 2B district game for third place.

Game time is 2 p.m. in the Eastmont High School gymnasium, 955 Third St. N.E.
