Fire victim arrested for possessing, selling stolen batteries

— A woman whose rental home burned to the ground has been arrested in connection with a stolen battery case.

Rose Susan Pauline Vallee, 32, was booked into the Okanogan County Jail on Sunday for first-degree trafficking in stolen property and third-degree possession of stolen property.

Vallee and two of her four children were rescued from their burning home in the Malott Housing and Urban Development subdivision Jan. 5.

Okanogan Sheriff Frank Rodgers said Tuesday that the stolen property case against Vallee does not relate to the fire.

“It looks like the case was a bunch of old batteries that were stolen from Washington Tractor back in December,” Rodgers said, noting the batteries were allegedly returned as cores for refunds from other stores.

Serial numbers on batteries allow them to be tracked.
