TONASKET The Tonasket School District is moving forward with its search for a new superintendent.
A meeting will be hosted at 7:30 tonight with search consultant Doug Asbjornsen of McPherson and Jacobson LLC in the district boardroom at 35 E. state Highway 20.
School Board Chairman Jerry Asmussen said the purpose of the meeting will be for Asbjornsen to gather community comments and ideas on what residents seek in their next schools chief.
“The search consultant is conducting those and their outreach meetings to listen to the different stake holders,” he said. “He’s going to meet with the staff and administrators, and the students.”
In a special meeting last month, the board announced the selection of McPherson and Jacobson over Northwest Leadership Association to conduct the search for a new district superintendent.
The cost of the search will be about $6,500, plus expenses.
“I felt Northwest was pretty much boiler-plate to where we were last go-around,” Asmussen previously said.
Northwest Leadership would have cost the distinct more about $9,400, plus expenses.
The expenses include costs inquired with candidate travel, lodging and food.
During a Nov. 24 meeting, the board discussed Superintendent Paul Turner’s contract in executive session, then reconvened in public, where members voted 3-2 not to renew his rolling contract.
Turner’s contract is set to expire on June 30, 2015.
