CONCONULLY Okanogan Conservation District will host a Firewise workshop from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Hall, 219 N. Main St.
An optional walking field trip will evaluate local homes for their wildfire risk immediately after the workshop, which is provided in partnership with the town, state Department of Natural Resources and Okanogan County.
Presenters will discuss ways to prepare homes and property for wildfire, and how to react when a wildfire is in the area.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The national Firewise Communities program is an interagency program designed to encourage local solutions for wildfire safety. The program offers simple ways community members can work together to prevent their properties from becoming fuel for a wildfire, the district said.
In Okanogan County, the Firewise program is coordinated by the Okanogan Conservation District in cooperation with Natural Resources.
