OKANOGAN - The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Okanogan Valley calling for gusts up to 45 mph.
“A vigorous low pressure system will usher in windy conditions tonight and Saturday,” meteorologists said late Friday. On Saturday, “these winds will kick up areas of blowing dust with local visibility restrictions below one-mile.”
The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday.
“Windy conditions may result in difficult travel for high profile vehicles,” meteorologists said. “In addition, minor tree damage is possible especially in the 2015 burn scar areas. Broken tree limbs on power lines may also result in loss of power at times.”
Meanwhile in neighboring Ferry County, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued calling for similar conditions.
“Very gusty north and northeast winds are expected Friday night and on Saturday,” meteorologists said. “Sustained winds ranging between 15 and 30 mph coupled with gust up to 40 mph are expected.
