OKANOGAN — Okanogan County residents got good news and bad news this week on federal fire assistance requests.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama approved Gov. Jay Inslee’s request for public assistance to help governmental agencies, including Okanogan County and the Okanogan County Public Utility District, with fire losses and expenses. But, late Thursday, Inslee was informed that individual assistance was denied.
