Mother, two children hospitalized following minor crash

Jessica A. Saffel fell asleep at the wheel while driving near Entiat

— A mother and her two young children were taken to the Confluence Health late last night the woman fell asleep at the wheel and crashed.

Jessica A. Saffel, 27, Cergio Britt, 8, and Alyssa Britt, 5, all of Yakima, were transported to the Wenatchee hospital shortly before midnight. Their conditions were not immediately available.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Saffel was northbound on U.S. Highway 97A in a 1998 Toyota Corolla when she fell asleep at the wheel and drove into a ditch.

The vehicle came to rest on the adjacent railroad tracks near Milepost 219, the patrol reported.

All three victims were wearing seatbelts.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors, the patrol reported.
