Tonasket wants to annex land south of town

TONASKET – The city wants to annex properties southeast and southwest of town, but most local residents aren’t in favor.

That was the discussion during a special workshop with property owners, the city council and City Planner Kurt Danison.

Explaining the city’s urban growth area, Danison said the city hopes to acquire a railroad crossing at the sound end of Chief Tonasket Park, and said the southeast portion is necessary for the town to grow.
