Spring Plantin reaps top bronc ride at Stampede

Clay Elliott of Nanton, Alberta, jumps out of the chute en route to an 88.5-point ride on Spring Plantin at the Omak Stampede rodeo Thursday in Omak.

Clay Elliott of Nanton, Alberta, scored a sizzling 88.5 on Spring Plantin from Flying 5 Rodeo to take an early lead in the event.

Right behind were Andy Reed of Spearman, Texas, with an 83 and Ben Londo of San Luis Obispo, Calif., with an 81.5.

In the 81st World-Famous Suicide Race, competed after each rodeo from Thursday to Sunday, Eagle Boy with jockey Scott Abrahamsson and owned by George Marchand finished first by a horse length.

Second went to Spade with jockey Tyler Peasley and owned by Montana Pakootas.

The race went off with 18 horses.

Big Bucks, with jockey Loren Marchand owned by Clifford Louie, and BoShay, owned by Angel Vargas, were scratched.
