— The sixth annual ski day is under way until 2 p.m. today on the Ferry County Rail Trail.

The event is organized by the Ferry County Rail Trail Partners, with the start at the Kiwanis Trailhead on the north end of Curlew Lake.

Participants can glide along a three-mile groomed ski track that goes over the trestle bridge, along the lake and ends at the Black's Beach Trailhead.

Skiers of all ages and skill levels are welcome, organizers said. Free ski instruction, from professionals, and free use of skis, poles and boots are available. Rail Trail volunteers will be stationed on site with heaters, free snacks and hot drinks.

Those wearing retro ski outfits are eligible to win a watch.
