REPUBLIC - Town will become a winter wonderland on Saturday as the chamber of commerce and other local volunteers host the annual Winterfest celebration.

"We have fun events for everyone, some unique to Republic," chamber President Jim Milner said. "Come give us your best Sasquatch call, try your hand at snow petanque or join us for our first annual Smash Bro's WiiU tournament."

Events kick off at 11 a.m. with a Sasquatch calling contest at the Republic Brewing Co., 26 Clark Ave.

A snow petanque tournament will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the college parking lot off Clark Avenue.

"We'll have outhouse racing on our main street, a lighted parade, hot wings eating contest, bonfire, carriage rides, bingo, chili crawl and great music," Milner said.

The complete story is available in the Jan. 13 issue of The Chronicle.
