OKANOGAN - A localized windstorm, accompanied by rain and lightning, toppled trees including one that fell on an Okanogan home, and caused scattered power outages in the mid-valley area.

A mammoth catalpa tree uprooted and fell onto Donna Jensen’s house at 2333 Elmway. She was not injured.

Okanogan firefighters and the Okanogan County Sheriffís Office were called at 7:22 p.m. Sheriff Frank Rogers said the fire department responded, but advised other agencies to cancel.

The storm caused seven electrical outages when trees went down and conductors were broken, said Tim DeVries, director of engineering of operations for the Okanogan County Public Utility District.

The complete story is available in the Sunday, July 24 edition of The Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle.
