Evacuation level downgraded for Diamon Creek Fire

— Okanogan County Emergency Management has downgraded the Diamond Creek Fire evacuation alert level for the Lost River, Mazama and Rendezvous areas.

As of Monday evening, Sept. 18, the areas are at Level 1, the lowest of three alert levels.

The areas had been on Level 2, or be ready to evacuate, since Sept. 13.

Moderate fire behavior, cooler temperatures and fire line construction led to the change for the Lost River area to Mazama, east to Lancaster Road near milepost 188 on Highway 20, north to Diamond T Road off Rendezvous Road, north to Cub Creek Road intersection with Forest Road No. 5215300 and west to Lost River.

Emergency management officials urge people to stay aware of their surrounding and take action if needed.

In addition, several people opted in to the county emergency alert system but did not provide contact information or a street address. People are urged to check and update their information at www.okanoganDEM.org.
