— A Tonasket man was arrested Dec. 31 after allegedly leading police on a chase from south of town to the Omak Mountain Road east of town.

Trooper Kelvin Fox attempted to stop a car driven by Casey M. Nicholson, 27, for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign two miles south of Omak off Highway 97 at 4:49 p.m., the Washington State Patrol said.

Nicholson allegedly fled on a dirt road, with speeds reaching up to 90 mph. The vehicle entered Dayton Street in Omak, passing Eighth and Seventh avenues, and failing to stop at a stop sign on Edmonds Street, the patrol said.

It turned onto Highway 155, hit a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 155 and Omak Mountain Road, and allegedly came to a stop.

Nicholson and a passenger, Cassandra M. Orlando, 23, Spokane, allegedly fled on foot before being taken into custody by the trooper and Omak Police Officer James Murray.

Nicholson was arrested on suspicion of felony eluding, second-degree trespassing, resisting arrest and obstruction.

Orlando was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal impersonation, resisting arrest and obstruction.

No one was injured.
